The United States Army Parachute Team, nicknamed “The Golden Knights,” is the U.S. Army’s official aerial demonstration team. The Team travels around the United States, performing parachute demonstrations at air shows, connecting the Army with the American people. The Team represents the finest of Soldiers and personifies the Army Values, showing the world the professionalism, precision, and discipline of today’s modern Army.
Jim Tobul and the “Korean War Hero” F4U-4 Corsair are an exciting tribute to the men and machines that fought to defend democracy and freedom in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. Jim tells the story of this celebrated aircraft through dramatic aerial displays and, bringing tears to the eyes of veterans and awakening the curiosity of upcoming generations to learn more about the fight for freedom waged by those who came before.
Gary Ward puts his plane, the MX2, through one of the most exciting aerobatic performances you will ever see. The entire sequence is jam packed with breathtaking gyrations that range from zero speed hovers to dives in excess of 250 mph. The MX2 is the absolute latest in unlimited aerobatic aircraft, and Gary makes full use of the power and agility of the MX2 to perform many maneuvers that an “airplane just isn’t supposed to do!”
Scott Yoak’s performance in the Quick Silver P-51D Mustang will absolutely take your breath away! Quick Silver was built from over 200 different Mustang parts and stands as a tribute to our veterans. This P-51 is a celebration of our nation’s armed forces.
Chuck Coleman and his aerobatic aircraft, the Extra 300L, have accumulated more than 3,500 hours of show-stopping flight time together. Chuck has an extensive background in aviation and aerospace, working as a pilot and engineer for Team Oracle, The SpaceShip Company, Scaled Composites, Toyota Airsports and many more.
Matt Younkin’s Beech 18 performance is likely the most unusual act on the airshow circuit today. The Beech 18 was never designed for aerobatic flight; however that doesn’t make it incapable of doing just that. The performance begins with a roll on takeoff followed by a series of Cuban eights, point-rolls, and even a loop. Matt is the recipient for the 2012 Bill Barber Award for Showmanship.
